The Ecclesiastical Museum of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki

The Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Museum, was founded in October 2006 and it is located in the center of Thessaloniki close to the Museum of Macedonia Struggle. It is housed on the ground floor of the Metropolis building next to the cathedral of Saint Gregory Palamas. The initiative for this museum belongs to Mr. Anthimos the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki and it is recognized in the European museum community. Despite the small space that hosts it, the areas were the theological exhibits are presented are outstanding for the excellence in architecture and beautiful design inside a small exhibition area. The exhibits are arranged in a unique way in the area in conjunction with a separate special lighting up and the result is very rewarding. The visitor will be able to see the doctrinal significance of the image of the Church and the way in which it is depicted in the images the mystery of the Divine Incarnation as well as the way which reinforces for believers the hope of salvation. Simultaneously, the museum is presenting and the recent history of the metropolis of Thessaloniki.
