Direct Bus Service To and From the airport:

Transit bus service is provided between the Airport and the city of Thessaloniki, with connections to the Central Railway Station and the "Makedonia" Regional Coach Terminal (KTEL).

Bus service runs every 30 minutes and the journey to the city center takes about 40 - 50 minutes.

Access the Airport quickly and easily, by driving your own car.

"Makedonia" Airport is located at Mikra, 16.5 km southeast of central Thessaloniki (Aristotelous Square), and is easily accessible from the A25 Motorway (Thessaloniki - N. Moudania National Road). The drive to and from the city centre takes about 25 - 30 minutes.

By Taxi

24/7 metered taxi service is available outside the "Makedonia" Airport Terminal building.

The journey from (to) the Airport to (from) the centre of Thessaloniki is about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

The fare to and from the airport is normally between 20-30 euro. There is a surcharge for trips starting from midnight to 05.00 a.m. You may be charged extra, if you carry many pieces of luggage.

All trains to Thessaloniki arrive at The New Thessaloniki Railway Station, near the city center. It is located at the junction of Monastiriou and Anageniseos street and it is accessible both from Monastiriou and Margaropoulou street.

The passengers' transportation is facilitated by its seven platforms, while the various commercial stores which operate in the station's premises can offer quality leisure time to its visitors.

The train Station of Thessaloniki provides two (2) parking spaces for cars of wheelchair users. The station's interior is easily accessible since it is found on the same ground level with its exterior. It features automated sliding doors, a ticket office located on a special platform with an access ramp to serve passengers travelling with wheelchairs and a special elevator connecting the ticket / waiting areas with platform 1. Finally the station provides a specially adapted WC for disable people and an optical (special electronic boards) and audible announcement for the trains' arrivals and departures.

Bus Line 78 of OASTH connects the railway station with Macedonia InterCity Bus Terminal KTEL and Macedonia International Airport.

International Railway Services

Greek railway connection to the rest of Europe has a long history and, after a brief hiatus, it was re-established, in May 2014.

The historic rail services “ Acropolis,” “ Hellas Express” and “Attica” of the 90s,  traveling to  Munich, have been replaced today by more flexible services to Sofia and Bucuresti, Skopje and Beograd, from where the passenger may travel onwards to  big European cities, by connection services.

Macedonia Intercity Coach Station is located 5km west of Thessaloniki city centre. It is easily accessible from the city centre as well as from the new west hub of the city via which it is directly connected with Thessaloniki's ring road.

Performs daily routes serving 41 Bus Stations, 5 International routes (Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Sloavakia), and 10 coastal lines. The Egnatia Odos is the Greek part of the Trans - European axle E90.

Via Egnatia Odos, Thessaloniki approaches westwards the harbor of Igoumenitsa, from where there are regular ferry connections with Italy to the east to Kipous of Evros, the Greek – Turkish border. Moreover, the vertical axes of Egnatia Odos ensure connecting Thessaloniki with the Balkans countries and Europe.

The National Road Patra – Athens – Thessaloniki – Evzoni connects the city of Thessaloniki with the capital of Greece and constitutes part of the European motorway E75.

Parking: In the city there are many municipal and private car parks. The cost for the first hour ranges from 2,5 to 4 euros and it is reduced for each subsequent hour.

For 2300 years, since its foundation in 315/6 BC and up until today, the port of Thessaloniki constitutes the most important port in Macedonia and one of the most important ports in Southeast Europe.

It is located in the center of the city, in distance of 1km from the Passenger Railway Station and 16km from the city's International Airport.

It is a station for several cruise ships in the Mediterranean and during the summer period, ferry routes connecting Thessaloniki with Sporades and other Greek islands.

Passenger traffic is facilitated by a modern, cruise-passenger terminal located near (500m) the city center.

The "Macedonia" cruise passenger terminal that operates on a 24hour-7days/week basis, is hosted on the ground section of a renovated neoclassical building and services passengers of passenger-ships and ferryboats, flying dolphins and cruise-ships.

Its high specifications and modern facilities meet the requirements of the Schengen treaty and the ISPS code.
